As far as "conservatives" go, Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) is about as good as you're gonna get. So, obviously a sordid story such as this -- appearing in the Marxist "paper of record" and breathlessly trumpeted through all of Libtardia yesterday and today -- has got to be examined closely before believing it. Frankly, whether or not the 38-year-old bachelor made it with some 17-year-old -- (many of whom these days are already "experienced" by then) -- though not commendable, isn't really something we would consider to be nationally newsworthy. Nonetheless, as a lesson in spotting and dissecting Fake News, this horrible piece offers us an excellent "teachable moment" ™ for examining how the journalistic jackals practice their dark arts.

Slimes Headline: ... "is said to"
Analysis: That's the first "red flag!" Said to BY WHOM???
Slimes Sub-Headline: ... "people briefed on it said."
Analysis: "people?"

Analysis: Almost all of these "gotcha" scandal pieces are bylined by more than one author -- in this case three of them. This journalistic magic trick conveys the illusion of a matter so serious and an investigation so thorough that a whole team of "elite journalists" had to be dispatched to the task. Oh how well I can see through these seditious sons-of-bitches!
Slimes: Representative Matt Gaetz, Republican of Florida and a close ally of former President Donald J. Trump....
Analysis: That alone calls the allegations into question. But let's be fair and see where this goes.
Slimes: ... is being investigated by the Justice Department over whether he had a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old and paid for her to travel with him...
Analysis: According to whom?
Slimes: ... according to three people briefed on the matter.
Analysis: Oh. OK ---- Do these "three people," who were "briefed on the matter" by yet another party unknown, have like -- you know ---- names?
Slimes: Investigators are examining whether Mr. Gaetz violated federal sex trafficking laws, the people said.
Analysis: "The people said," eh?
Slimes: A variety of federal statutes make it illegal to induce someone under 18 to travel over state lines to engage in sex in exchange for money or something of value
Analysis: The same Slimes which for years spiked the allegations against sex-mad rapist scum like Bill Clinton, Bill Cosby, Harvey Weinstein, Jeffrey Epstein and, most recently, the pedo-groper / accused rapist Joe Biden and his son Hunter "Laptop from Hell" Biden --- is all-of-a-sudden concerned with moral turpitude and "sex with minors." Interesting.
Slimes: It was not clear how Mr. Gaetz met the girl, believed to be 17 at the time of encounters ....
Analysis: "Not clear" --- "believed to be." --- Believed to be" according to whom, exactly?
Slimes: .. according to two of the people.
Analysis: I see.
Slimes: The investigation was opened in the final months of the Trump administration under Attorney General William P. Barr ...
Analysis: The clever name-dropping of "Trump" and "AG William Barr" is a trick designed to give the impression that the charges must be credible if Gaetz's "fellow Republicans" Trump and Barr were in power when the investigation commenced. But how do we even know this investigation into Gaetz ever existed at all?
Slimes: .... the two people said.
Analysis: "Two people." I see. Looks like we lost one of the original "three people" though.

The Slimes' "three people": The proverbial "Little Birdie," the Invisible Man, and Harvey the Giant Rabbit ----- "Pssst, I heard in a briefing that Gaetz did this and Gaetz did that. But you didn't hear that from me, understood?"
Slimes: Given Mr. Gaetz’s national profile, senior Justice Department officials in Washington — including some appointed by Mr. Trump — were notified of the investigation ...
Analysis: Oh yeah? Who said?
Slimes: ... the people said.
Analysis: (palm to face, sighing, shaking head) ----- (((They))) don't even try to write seemingly plausible fiction anymore.
Slimes: The three people said that the examination of Mr. Gaetz, 38, is part of a broader investigation...
Analysis: Glad to see that Person #3 is back on board. He must have gone to take a shit and missed a few details during the "briefing."

Deeper down into the story, we find Congressman Gaetz's strong denial of the allegations:
"Mr. Gaetz called the investigation part of an elaborate scheme involving “false sex allegations” to extort him and his family for $25 million that began this month. He said he and his father, Don Gaetz, had been cooperating with the F.B.I. and “wearing a wire” after they were approached by people saying they could make the investigation “go away.'”
Of course, in the attention-limited mind of your typical normie, the Congressman's buried denial and counterclaim (assuming the reader even gets that far in!) simply cannot compete with the blaring "first impression" headline and critical opening paragraphs citing "the three people." That's all part of the journalistic illusion of "objectivity" as well.
